

There will be no funeral services. He will be cremated by Oak Hill Funeral Home and brought home.
Fred was born in Amsterdam, Holland on November 19, 1944 and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1957. The Freerks family settled in San Francisco. Fred attended San Francisco Polytechnic High School where he was a member of ROTC. He graduated from City College of San Francisco and continued his education at the University of San Francisco from which he graduated with a BS degree in Information Systems and Computer Science. He started working in the Santa Clara Valley in 1969.
Fred was married to Louise on November 21, 1970 in San Jose, CA.,and they have resided in Cupertino since 1972.
Fred worked as an engineer and consultant for over 46 years with many Silicon Valley Companies. He spent 12 years working at Applied Materials and while there was awarded eight U.S. and five foreign patents. He loved to ride his motorcycle, putting on over 500,000 miles riding double-up with Louise. Their rides included the Pacific Northwest, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Hawaii, British Columbia, and Alberta. He enjoyed sailing, traveling, flying model airplanes, cars, photography, playing his guitar and flute, and listening to and exploring all genres of music. He loved people and enjoyed talking with his relatives, friends and his many physicians. He made new friends wherever he traveled. He spent hours feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in his yard.
Fred is survived by his wife Louise; his sister Patricia Farrell and her family, his brother Robin Freerks, his late sister Ingrid Archibald’s family, and his cousins Kathy and Jim Ingram of Gilroy.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Petronella and his sister Ingrid Archibald; and wonderful Malle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley, 3027 Penitencia Creek Road, San Jose, CA 95132.
