Gary Earl Buck passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2026. He was born February 23,1947 and raised in San José, California. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Norma Buck; his brothers, Richard and John; his sister, Sandy; and his dearly loved son, Christopher.
Gary attended San José district schools and graduated from Del Mar High School in 1965. He pursued higher education at the University of California, Santa Barbara; West Valley College; and San José State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Angel; survived by his younger son, Jefferey and his partner Rhiannon; his cherished grandson, Leonidas; and many cousins. Gary also held a deep love for his extended family: Dena Bouskos, Pete and Diane Bouskos and their family.
Gary Buck was truly a modern-day Renaissance man. In his personal life, he pursued a wide range of creative and hands-on interests. He was an artist, a devoted model train enthusiast, and a skilled DIYer with every tool imaginable. He loved music, enjoyed landscaping, and had an extensive interest in history, science, sports, and food. Gary took great pride in working alongside his sons in Boy Scouts, Little League, and various business ventures.
His professional life was just as diverse. Over the years, Gary managed wine-tasting rooms, trained computer franchise owners and mortgage lenders, owned and operated a floral and gift shop, and designed displays honoring veterans and their service awards and commendations. At the time of his passing, he was still actively running his pet store business.
Above all else, Gary cherished his family and cared deeply for his friends. He was known as a compassionate, generous employer and a loyal, steady presence in the lives of those who knew him. His absence leaves a profound void in our hearts, and his memory will be carried forward through the many lives he touched.
