Joan Louise Cameron, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 21, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on August 9, 1937, in Moscow, Idaho, Joan's life was a testament to love, faith, and the strength of family.
She was the loving wife of the late William Cameron and the devoted mother to six children: Bob, Laurie, Sheri, Doug, Kathy and Cindy. Survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored deeply. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William, and her youngest son, Duncan.
Throughout her life, Joan was the heart and soul of her family, the one who held everyone together. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. Joan found joy in the simple pleasures of life: gardening, baking, and playing pinochle with family and friends. Every summer, Joan traveled to the family cabin on Lake Pend Oreille in Northern Idaho, where she made lasting memories with her loved ones.
In her younger years, Joan enjoyed the thrill of water skiing, hiking, and picking huckleberries—activities that allowed her to embrace the beauty of the outdoors she loved so much. Joan was a church attender and lived out her faith by serving in many volunteer roles and loving others. Her example of kindness and compassion touched many lives.
Joan was also a polio survivor. Despite the hardships, she lived her life with grace and strength.
Joan’s passing leaves a profound hole in the hearts of all who knew her. She was not just a mother, but the guiding force in the lives of her children and grandchildren, a constant source of strength and wisdom. Her love and legacy will live on through her family, who take comfort in the hope of being reunited with her one day in Heaven.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but we find peace knowing that she is now resting in the arms of God.
A memorial service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on January 17th at 10:00am at Willow Glen Funeral Home, 1039 Lincoln Ave, San Jose, CA. Burial and reception to follow.
