Lavon Faughnan, age 91, formerly of Angels Camp, quietly departed this life Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at NorthBay Vaca Valley Hospital in Vacaville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Don” Faughnan. Lavon was born January 15, 1925 in Decatur, Indiana to the late Charles and Orma Martin. She was one of nine children, and at the age of 16, moved to San Francisco from Kalamazoo, Michigan, to live with her sister, Lucille, whose husband was serving in the military during WWII. While there, she met US Navy shipman, Don Faughnan, whom she married October 12, 1945. California became their home, where they raised four children, and celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage. A devout catholic, Lavon was very active in her church and found great joy in helping others. She was a member of the Lay Carmelite Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel “Little Therese, Bestower of Roses”. Through this service, and everyday life, she recognized God’s presence in all circumstances, and forever touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a strong, wise and gentle soul. Lavon’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, laughing, sharing, spreading her warmth and kindness like a ray of sunshine . . . always with a smile. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.” Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in loving memory by her children, Donald Faughnan of Angels Camp, CA, Jeff Faughnan of Lynnwood, WA, Steve Faughnan of Jamestown, CA, and Donna Lucchio of Vacaville, CA; Grandchildren, Jeffrey Faughnan, Hunter Faughnan and Wyatt Faughnan; Daughters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to Cornerstone Assisted Living in Vacaville, for the beautiful home and care provided. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, at Oakhill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA. Following the service, family and friends are invited to celebrate Lavon’s life at a lunch reception, 1:30 p.m., at Original Joe’s, 301 South 1st Street, San Jose, CA.
