

Lawrence W. Walker, better known as Larry, was born September 28, 1946, in San Jose, California to the late Lawrence and Nannette Walker. He was one of three children. While in school, Larry was a dedicated student who loved interacting with his peers and built many life long friendships. He was also very athletic and was a member of the high school basketball team, as well as, the track and field team. Larry graduated from San Jose High School in 1964 and continued his education at San Jose City College where he continued to participate on the track and field team. There, he earned an A. A. Degree in business. In 1968, Larry was drafted into the Army to serve his country. His two year enlistment included time in Germany, Fort Riley, Kansas, and Vietnam. Also, he traveled to Hawaii and China while on R & R.
During his career, he worked for his father for many years, and next became employed by Frito Lay. His last job was at the U. S. Postal Service for 31 years, working along side his younger brother. Larry was due to retire at the end of October.
Larry lead a full and happy life. He loved spending quality time with his family, and also, enjoyed traveling in the U. S. and throughout the world. His interest in sports continued, along with reading a variety of books,fine dining, and many physical activities.
Sadly, Larry passed away at Kaiser Hospital, Santa Clara, early in the morning on Sept. 17, 2015. He will forever live in the hearts and memories of his sister, Janis Walker, and his brother, Gary Walker, both of San Jose, and will be missed by many relatives and friends.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 9:00AM to 9:00PM at Oak Hill. A service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 11:00AM in The Chapel of the Oaks at Oak Hill Funeral Home, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA, 95125.
