

Liboria Fregoso was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Liboria will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Liboria was born on July 22, 1936 at Dos Caminos in San Jose, Acateno. She was the daughter of Consiancio and Agripina Garcia. Liboria grew up in Teziulan Puebla.
Liboria was raised with five siblings. She had two older brothers, Juan and Lino, two older sisters, Consuelo and Margarita, and one younger sister, Chata. Liboria was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young girl, Liboria had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and making up games. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. Liboria was an active child who took part in horseback riding. In her spare time she liked needlepoint knitting. However, to Liboria, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends.
A typical teenager, Liboria had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from a private Catholic school in 1951. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. Her favorite class in high school was math.
Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Liboria enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. While growing up, some of her best friends were Lino Garcia and Chata Garcia. Later in life, she became friends with Coco Reyes and Carmen Gonzalez.
On January 20, 1960 Liboria exchanged wedding vows with Jerry Fregoso at a Catholic Church in San Jose, Acateno. Empathic and loyal, Liboria was committed to making her new family happy.
Liboria worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Liboria was blessed with three children, three daughters, Letty, Barbara, and Patricia. Another blessing for Liboria was the gift of two grandchildren, Miles and Elena.
Fortunately, Liboria enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Liboria worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was a cannery worker. She was employed for 14 years by Mayfair, Sunsweet, and etc. Liboria always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Liboria enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were gardening and knitting. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Liboria was a woman who took pride in upholding her beliefs. Politically, Liboria was a strong supporter of the Democratic Party.
Liboria enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacation included Teziutlan Puebla, Mexico.
Liboria was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. Some of her favorites were: Semsen, a poodle-mixed dog, Bonnie and Clyde, persian-mixed cats, and lucky, a dog. They were best friends for 14 years. Her family was rounded out by her rabbits, birds, and cats.
When Liboria’s retirement finally arrived in 1986, she was well prepared. Her new life involved relocating to San Jose, CA. In retirement, she found new pleasure in gardening and traveling. Even in retirement, Liboria continued to stay in touch with her old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Liboria was active in her new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered her.
Liboria passed away on March 17, 2012 at in her home in San Jose, CA. Liboria fought a brave battle against Mesothelioma. She is survived by her husband Jerry; her daughters Letty, Barbara, and Patricia; her grandchildren Miles and Elena. Services were held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Liboria was laid to rest in Oak Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park in San Jose, CA.
Simply stated, Liboria was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Liboria leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Liboria Fregoso.
