

Louise Barton passed away on March 7th 2017, at the Age of 91 after a full and rewarding life. She is now basking In Gods glory and is at peace. Louise was born in Maben, Mississippi on a country farm and was raised with a southern heritage of hospitality the importance of family and giving.
The daughter of John Sam Gibson and Minnie Bell Gibson (Crowley) was an only child as her sibling passed away soon after birth. She graduated from Cumberland HS in 1942 and soon after met the Love of her Life James David Barton. They married in 1943 and moved to San Jose, California where James enlisted in the Navy.
Louise worked for FMC in 1943 – 46, Hawaiian Pineapple for 11 Years and retired from the East Side UHSD after spending 23 years of a fulfilling work with young adults retiring in 1990. She met a great group of lasting friends during her tenure at the district. Keeping in contact with them until the time of her passing.
Louise & James retired to Aptos, CA in 1990. Louise was known for her sweet hospitality always making sure she had plenty to eat with many varieties of food & sweets. She always made guests feel welcome and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She was our rock and inspiration.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years James D in 2005 and her eldest son James G in 2012. She is survived by her youngest son Steve and his wife Vickie, granddaughter Christi and Aaron Riddle, grandson Bryan and Lauryn Barton and her six great grandchildren Ryder, Mia, Olivia, Brayden, Beckett and Jaxon. She felt blessed to have had these gifts from God in her life. Towards the end Louise (Gigi) stipulated that every year the six great grandchildren would get their annual boardwalk passes that she gave them every year for Christmas, they were the light of her life.
Louise Barton will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Memorial Park at 300 Curtner Avenue in San Jose on March 28th 2017, viewing 12 – 12:30, service 12:30 – 1:30 in the Chapel of the Roses. In Lieu of flowers, Louise requested a donation to the Wounded Veterans, Hospice of Santa Cruz or your preferred charity.
