August 1, 1928 – June 30, 2025
Luis Quiros Garcia, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, veteran, and lifelong man of faith, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, just one month shy of his 97th birthday.
Luis was born on August 1, 1928, and raised in Lekep, San Fabian, Pangasinan, Philippines, where he was the eldest of seven siblings. He began college at Far Eastern University to pursue a career in medicine, but after one year, he made the decision to serve his adopted country by joining the United States Navy on March 20, 1957. He served honorably for 20 years and retired as a proud veteran on August 8, 1977.
Following his military service, Luis worked at FMC Corporation, a military contractor, from 1977 to 1987. In 1980, alongside his wife Pacita Frias Custodio, he founded Garcia’s Residential Care Home, which provided compassionate care to the elderly for more than three decades, until 2014.
Luis and Pacita were married on March 5, 1961, and shared a life rooted in love, family, and faith. Pacita preceded him in death.
Luis was a devout Catholic who attended church regularly and completed a pilgrimage that took him around the world. He remained socially active throughout his life, especially with the San Carlos Association of Northern California, where he found friendship and connection.
He was passionate about watching sports—cheering on his teams the San Francisco 49ers, Giants, and Golden State Warriors. He also enjoyed gardening, playing the lottery, dancing the Electric Slide, and visiting casinos to try his luck at the slot machines. He was known for his humor, gentle nature, and quiet acts of kindness.
He is survived by his children Shirley Garcia Reyes, Orville Custodio Garcia, and Alma Garcia Madlangbayan; his grandchildren; and his only surviving sibling, Elpidio Garcia. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pacita, five of his siblings, and his cherished grandson, Milo Benjamin Clark.
The Garcia family extends heartfelt thanks to his caregivers: Paulette Elarms, Jesse and Rita Garcia, Felix Agbuya, and Carlo Santos, as well as to the VA hospice medical team, whose compassionate care brought comfort and dignity in his final days.
A Final Tribute
Luis Quiros Garcia lived his life with faith, humility, and a warm heart. He served his family and country with honor, welcomed friends with laughter and grace, and left the world better than he found it. His spirit lives on in the lives he touched—and in the love he gave so freely.
