Maria Padovese Simmons passed away at the age of 93 in the early morning of May 20, 2021. She was born in San Nicolo, Italy on March 11, 1928. Maria was one of eight children of Regina and Luigi Padovese. She went to school until the 5th grade, then went to work on the farm tenanted by her family. Later she moved to the city of Trieste where she worked as a maid for military families. There she met an American G.I. Francis E. Simmons. They were married in 1953 and had two sons, John and Glenn. The family eventually settled in San Jose.
Mom was never afraid to speak her mind. She touched the lives of everyone she met. Maria devoted her life to raising her two children; her focus was always on them. She is survived by her sons, John and Glenn. A funeral service will be held on June 1, 2021 at 11 am at Willow Glen Funeral Home.
