Maria Saturno Somejo

Maria Saturno Somejo peacefully departed this world in her home, surrounded by family, to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. Born February 12, 1933 in Casilagan, Cabugao Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She met the love of her life in her home town and was happily married to Loreto Jose Somejo for 60 years until his final breath. She is survived by her children Cristeta Somejo Bringas, Rhod Saturno Somejo, and Ignacio Saturno Somejo, along with her 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Maria lived 90 fulfilling years and was a shining light to those who knew her. She immigrated to America in 1987 to build an aspiring life for her family and the many generations to follow. She worked diligently to provide for her family and grandchildren. From working on the farm in the Philippines, to working at the Airport, Togos, Tony's restaurant, McDonalds, school, and the Flea Market. She then retired at the age of 72.

Throughout her life she displayed so much kindness, endless love, and support for her family and friends. She nurtured her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with love and affection in her cooking, warm hugs and kisses. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, fishing, singing and dancing to traditional ilocano folk and church songs.

Maria’s faith in God gave her the strength to face trials and tribulations and she carried that grace in everything she did. Her memory will continue to live on through the lives she has touched. She will be remembered always for her love, generosity, strength, grit, bravery, and kindness. Maria will be dearly missed.

A viewing will be held at the Oakhill Funeral home in Room E on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 9:00am-4:00pm.

A memorial service will be held at the Oakhill Funeral Home (Large Chapel) in San Jose, CA on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 6:00pm-8:00pm.

A funeral service will be held at Cosmopolitan Evangelical Church from 10:00am-11:00am. We will then be escorted back to Oakhill Funeral home for Maria's Final rest at 11:30am.
