Mark was born in San Jose, California in 1958 on October 19th. He is the son of Manuel and Helene Ferreira who had just moved from Honolulu Hawaii to San Jose to start a new life in California. Mark has 5 siblings: Kathleen Azevedo, Deborah Welch, Karen Martinez, Michele A. Gutierrez and Richard Ferreira. Mark never married or had any children. Mark has 5 nieces and 3 nephews and 1 grand niece and 2 grand nephews.
Mark attended Oak Grove High School. He started his vocational career at Food Villa as an apprentice meat cutter with his father. He left after a short time in 1983 and began his career as a Service Technician for Performance Machine Tools in Fremont, California. He has worked for Bob Kroha for close to 40 years. Mark was an expert at machine installation, tooling and repairs as well as refurbishing older machines. He could provide expert CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) and programmer training.
Mark also was a skilled antiques dealer. He sold his antiques in three different shops in Gilroy and San Jose. His antiques are still on display at Briarwood Antiques and Collectibles in San Jose.
Mark has a great group of friends who have had annual picnics called the “Calero Reunion Party” for the past 45 years! So many friends are at a loss of words for the dear friend they loved so much. Mark was so good at making all kinds of delicious food like Teriyaki Chicken just like you find in Hawaii and he loved to talk story and make people laugh. His friends were his Ohana. He loves music like Ocean (“Put your Hand in the Hand”), Stray Cats, George Harrison (“Here Comes the Sun”), and Don McLean’s “American Pie.” He owned a few hot rods like his 1963 Buick, a 1970 Pontiac GTO (The “Goat”), Cevell, and Ford. Mark was so proud to be an American.
We will miss you Mark. You will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace and until we meet again, Aloha oe
