Marlene Terasaki passed away in her home on the morning of Tuesday, March 1, 2016, surrounded by her family. All those who knew Marlene were touched by her smile, her kindness, and how she always joyfully appreciated life's simple pleasures. She was extraordinarily selfless, thoughtful and generous towards others.
Marlene enjoyed traveling with friends, making crafts and arts, bowling, reading, playing slot machines, watching movies of her favorite novels, helping friends and spending time with her grandson.
She was born in Rivers, Arizona in 1944. After internment camp, her family moved to Sanger, CA. She later moved to San Francisco for a job and met her husband of 48 years. They eventually moved to and lived in San Jose for the rest of her life. It was there that she dedicated her time raising her family, working at various organizations including the San Jose Unified School District, the San Jose Buddhist Church and Yu-Ai Kai. Most of her time and efforts were volunteering at the San Jose Buddhist Church where she enjoyed being the temple librarian, a member of the Archives Committee, helping fundraising and a being a key member of the BWA. Family and friends will remember her as a beautiful, loving and giving person.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Terasaki, her sister Joanne Okada, her son Lane Terasaki, her daughter Robin Hoffman (Rob), and grandson Remus.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 9th, at 3:30pm at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin, 640 North 5th Street, San Jose, CA.
