

Nabiha (Nancy) Yasmine ShaheenNovember 25, 1934 - March 17, 2014Resident of San JoseNancy Shaheen, age 79, passed away peacefully in her home on March 17. She is survived by her children Karen Suzanne Shaheen, Kamel Paul Shaheen (Deborah), Sandra Jean Hickson (Bob), Mark Abraham Shaheen (Lori), Gloria Justina Dahbour (Simon), and Rodger David Shaheen (Brigid); grandchildren Michael, Melissa, Ashley, and Brandon Kahoush; Alexander, Pierce, Brooke, and Arianna Shaheen; Kristen Hickson Coulter and Taylor Hickson; Mark Jr., Jacob, and Zachary Shaheen; Dominick, Daniel, and Rachael Dahbour; Coleman and Casey Shaheen; Brother and sister-in-law Nabih and Marianna Ajlouni; Sister Evelyn Mogannam; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Shafiq Ajlouni, in 1991, and by her loving husband, Abraham Shaheen, in 1995.Nabiha (Nancy) was born to Wadih and Jalileh Ajlouni in Ramallah, Palestine where she was raised. On October 25, 1953 at the age of 19, she married her true love, Abe, and made the journey to the United States to start their life together in Pittsburgh, PA. She devoted her life to supporting her husband as well as raising her six children. In 1964, Abe and Nancy decided to move the family to California and settled in San Jose. A matriarch to her family, she was also an extremely strong woman with a smart business mind. She assisted Abe with running all of the family businesses including a butcher shop, a neighborhood market, and eventually managing multiple real estate investments.Nancy was a loving and nurturing mother and grandmother who spent every day of her life tending to her family's needs. Her home was always open to welcome family and friends, and her happiest moments were spent sharing her hearty, home-cooked meals with a house full of loved ones. She was actively involved in the lives of all of her 6 children and 18 grandchildren. We will miss hearing her comforting voice each day as she rarely let a day pass without talking to each and every one of her children. A long-time parishioner of St. Christopher Church and resident of Willow Glen, she was well known in the community and will be missed by many.Friends and family are invited to attend funeral services celebrating her life on Friday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 1576 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA. Vigil services will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Willow Glen Funeral Home, 1039 Lincoln Ave,, San Jose.
