Nelso J. Petroni

Nelso was born on August 23, 1946 in San Francisco, to Georg and Angela Petroni. After graduating from Sacred Heart in 1964, he went on to study Electrical Engineering at San Jose State University.

Soon after graduating, Nelso joined General Electric as an engineer and worked there for 38 years. After retiring from GE, he worked for the city of San Jose as senior engineer for the past 15 years. In total, he was an engineer for 53 years, where his contributions led to the development of numerous power plants, both nationally and internationally, along with more recent efforts to modernize the water reclamations systems of the City of San Jose. Nelso will be remember by his friends, colleagues and family for his intelligence and kindness.

Nelso is survived by his loving wife, Hong Sok Petroni who was his partner for 45 years, his sister Delia Minoia, his son, Dr. Daniel Petroni, and his daughter, Christina Petroni.

A memorial will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow Street, San Jose.
