I was saddened to learn of this just today. Oscar and I worked together dozens of times over the years. He was such a smart and talented man. He endured the endless teasing about being the only brown person in my family. That’s how close we were. His laugh and sense of humor were legendary. I have very fond memories of him and his father.

My deepest condolences Amiga. When I heard about Oscar's passing I couldn't believe  it. My heart broke for you and your family. I know how much you loved him and how much he loved you and his Familia. We had just been talking about him and all the plans you both had. I know he will be watching over you and your family from Heaven. 
 May he rest in peace.

For many other family members who had passed, my Tio Oscar took the time to write a heartfelt condolence message to honor them. To continue his tradition, I wanted to tell you a little about him:

Tio Oscar was the life of the party—always a fun time to be around, and he made sure everyone else had just as much fun. As loud as he was, with a cackling laugh that could be heard from a mile away and no "indoor voice," he knew how to be sentimental when it came to those he loved and who needed a shoulder to lean on. He truly wore his heart on his sleeve and wasn’t afraid to express how much he loved his family or shed a tear during a heartfelt conversation.

He had a remarkable ability to connect with children, something not many adults can do because they often fear looking too silly. But my Tio Oscar didn’t care—he would play with the kids as if he were as young as they were, and joke around to show his affection. He had a special knack for connecting with his nieces and nephews, particularly those who needed extra guidance or someone to talk to. He always tried to understand where we were coming from and showing us unconditional love and empathy during our growing pains.

Tio Oscar loved baseball and sports, and he enjoyed supporting his kids, grandkids, and nieces and nephews at their sporting events. I always knew when he had arrived because of his loud cheering (or munching on popcorn)—he didn’t care what others thought. He was our biggest hype man. Tio Oscar united our family through baseball and attending games, especially those of the Oakland A's. As my Tio would say, “I’d rather be an Oakland fan than a Giant LOSER."

To the biggest Oakland fan, the loudest voice, the funniest, and the most empathetic person I knew—although the world feels quieter and less joyful without you in this moment, I know you are still here with us in spirit, making us smile with your unforgettable humor.

Thank you (& Jennie) for bringing 3 generations of us all together in 2020 and allowing such beautiful new relationships to blossom. I have no doubt you are keeping all those in heaven before us laughing non-stop. LuvUCuz!

I have a kaleidoscope of memories growing up with Oscar (& Hector) and my brother… Easter egg hunts with coscarones & Christmas mornings. Countless sleepovers with our Mexican suitcases to watch Creature Feature or piling into the trunk of the “cancered” Galaxy 500 to go to the Capital Drive-In. Later years of riding  mopeds in the neighborhood and junior bowling league. And eventually our weddings and children’s birthday parties. Oscar was always able to bring humor and laughter to any situation. Never saw him not smiling & laughing. The oldest of our little cousin 4-pack and always the ring-leader and the one that might get us into trouble as kids. Never serious just enough to be scared of Tiá. These memories will forever be seared in my heart.  You will be missed by so many for countless reasons. Rest in peace Cuz.

Oscar Passing has brought lots of Sadness to me, as he was always funny and put smiles on everyone's Faces, I met him when he first became an apprentice and we worked for the same shop. From the first day this young and cockle guy brought lots of laughs to the job site. In future years when we would see each other we would break out laughing without saying a word just remembering some of the stones thrown on the job.

I was in shock to hear of Oscar’s passing, and the thought we will never get a chance to see each other again, but I also know that where he’s at,  Oscar is bring with him lots of laughter and Funny stories to share.

My condolences to the Estrada Family and sorry to hear of the passing of Oscar.
