Osvaldo Ferreira Camara

Osvaldo was born January 5, 1946 on the Portuguese island of Terceira, Azores. He was one of five children born to Olindina Ferreira Santos (da Camara) and Pedro da Camara. His parents raised him and his four siblings in the village of Angra. It was there that he met the love of his life, Rosa Maria Avila. The two courted and fell in love. In 1967, Osvaldo served in the Portuguese Army and fought in Angola during the Portuguese Colonial War. Osvaldo and Rosa continued their courtship through love letters while he was away. On April 11, 1971, Osvaldo and Rosa were married. He and his beautiful bride immigrated to the United States and settled in the town of Escalon, California, where he worked on a dairy farm.

On May 15, 1972, their son David was born. Soon after, Osvaldo moved his young family to San Jose and began working at Pacific Supply as a truck driver delivering roofing materials.

On October 26, 1973, they welcomed their second child, daughter Melinda. Osvaldo transitioned into working as a roofer, eventually establishing his own company, C&C Roofing.

Osvaldo's beloved wife passed away on May 16, 1984. Osvaldo and his two young children lived on with their Guardian Angel, Rosa, watching over them.

On August 6, 2021, Osvaldo passed away suddenly at his home. He is now joined with his wife Rosa watching over his family.

Osvaldo is survived by his son David (Christine) Camara, daughter Melinda (Manuel) Ventura, and granddaughters Chelsea and Madelyn Camara. He is also survived by his sisters Zelia Lourenco, Lucy Borba, and Anna (Ed) Edwards. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Camara, and brother-in-laws Manuel Lourenco and Alvin Borba.

Osvaldo will be remembered for his amazing cooking, love of outdoor camping trips, being a die hard Raiders and Sporting fan, his passion for Portuguese bullfights, and most importantly his desire to gather with the ones he loved. Osvaldo will anxiously wait to greet each one of us someday. Until then, we will love you and miss you terribly.
