Reese Robert Jubera, a.k.a. "Jay Reese" was born in San Jose, California on August 19, 1981. He graduated from Oak Grove High School as part of the Class of 1999. In his youth Reese also attended Edenvale Elementary School and Caroline Davis Middle School. Throughout his education, Reese excelled in math and became a tutor for his younger brothers and for his cousin Arianna.
Reese proudly worked as a DJ for over 21 years and was well known in the Bay Area. Throughout his DJ career, Reese became well-respected and played at various nightclubs, bars, restaurants, and radio stations. These include SP2 Communal Bar & Restaurant, Taste Nightclub, The Continental, The Loft, Temple Bar & Lounge, Cardiff Lounge, Avery Lounge, Empire Room, Enso Nightclub, WILD 94.9, 99.7 NOW, and 102.5 KDON, just to name a few. His DJ mixes will live on forever on his MixCloud: https://www.mixcloud.com/jayreese/. His love for music showed in his mixes as well as at his gigs. He always wanted to do better and be better because that's the type of person Reese was. In addition to being a DJ, Reese formerly worked at Paramount's Great America, Gap, Gymboree, Crate & Barrel, and On-Site.
Reese had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed sharing meals with family and friends at Buffalo Wild Wings, Hukilau, P.F. Chang's, Pho Y #1, and numerous pizza restaurants. When he wasn't DJing, Reese traveled the world. During his many vacation trips, he visited Greece, Rome, Barcelona, Turkey, Hawaii, Chicago, Seattle, Canada, Disneyland, Disneyworld, San Diego, and of course his favorite spot Las Vegas. Day trips to Santa Cruz and Monterey were two of Reese's favorite local spots to spend time with his family and his best friend Stephanie.
Reese is survived by many of his loved ones including his parents Tony and Leticia, his "sisters" Aaron and Brayden, his dogs Lilly and Leona, his best friend Stephanie Silveira, his "bro" Carlos Torres-Rocha, his grandparents Angel and Eva Rosiles and Rachel Jubera, many aunts and uncles, as well as numerous cousins. Reese joins his cat Ashley, his aunt Kathy Perez, and his great-grandmother Maria Zabalza, as well as several other extended family members.
Reese will always be remembered as the life of the party. His contagious laugh and bright smile always lit up the room. The love he had for his family was immeasurable; as was the love he had for his friends, his passion for DJing, and music. He was a mentor to some and a loving friend to many more and he will be greatly missed.
Reese entered into eternal peace on Thursday, December 10, 2020 in San Jose, California, at the age of 39. Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service for Reese which will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021, from 12 - 2 PM, at the Grace Chapel in Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose, California.
