

Roberta Bondelie, passed away with family and friends at her side on Feb 27th, 2025, at her home in The Terraces of Los Gatos. She was 88. She was born in Sunol CA, to parents Robert and Maxine Folden. She was the oldest of her 2 sisters who passed before she did.
Roberta married at an early age to Richard Holdren and had 2 children, Kraig and Kris Loyce. She attended San Jose State and graduated with a teaching degree and later went on to achieve her Masters in Administration. In 1976 she married Dick (Richard) Bondelie, adding his children Karen, Kenny and Kurt to her family. Roberta would say she has 5 children, 8 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. Roberta and Dick split their time living in Campbell, CA and Jackson Hole WY. In 2014 they moved into the Terraces of Los Gatos. They were married for 43 years until his death in 2019. After the passing of both their spouses Roberta found comfort and companionship with Ken Haughton and in Nov 2024, they moved into Assisted Living together at The Terraces of Los Gatos.
Roberta was a lifelong educator, dedicated to her belief that education improved lives. She worked in public education at San Jose Unified and Cupertino School District as an elementary school teacher, special ed teacher, and as a school administrator. Some of the schools she worked at included Hester, Willow Glen, Booksin, Gunderson and Grant. She also taught and mentored adults in her private life, English as a second language, interviewing skills, and writing.
Roberta loved traveling. She and Dick Bondelie traveled the world extensively. Roberta said that Africa was her favorite and they visited it twice, as well as seeing China. Ken Haughton and Roberta also traveled, visiting families in Alaska, Washington, Oregon and even a river cruise up the Mississippi to Memphis TN.
Roberta had a zest for life. She loved entertaining, swimming, writing, gardening, fast cars, and good food. But even more, she loved her friends. She kept many friends that she had met in childhood as well as others that she met throughout her life. She had a quirky sense of humor and her laughter filled up rooms.
