

Ronico was born in San Francisco to first generation Filipino and Mexican parents. He died on Feb. 1st. He received his BS Degree in Economics from Santa Clara University. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed aboard the USS Columbus. He received his teaching credential from the University of San Francisco, and his Master's and counseling credential from San Jose State and his doctorate degree in Career Education from Roger Williams University in Tampa, Florida.
He embarked on the mission so dear to his heart, educating and counseling numerous students in career education, college opportunities, financial aid, and establishing innovative program to fulfill these goals. To this end he counseled and advised many students to go on to higher aspirations. He was a role-model and inspiration to thousands. All of this was accomplished through the auspices of William C. Overfelt High School, were he has served in various capacities for the past 30+ years. Some of these roles were: scholarship and career counselor, ESL, business, and social studies teacher, club advisor for the Mexican American Youth, Asian-American, National Honor Society, and University College Opportunity program. In addition, he has served as a part-time counselor at Independence Adult Center for 10 years, during his retirement period.
He has volunteered many hours to help his fellow man less fortunate than himself through such programs as: Aris Project, CONTACT, as a private speaker in education topics to aid student in educational opportunities.
Some of the organizations he belonged to and/or supported were: Filipino-American Movement in Education, Asian Educators, CTA and ESTA. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 809.
He will be greatly missed.
