Rosa Di Vittorio, 82, passed away after battling several long years with cystic fibrosis. Rosa was born on April 5, 1941, in Trabia, Sicily to Salvatore Cancilla and Antonina Oppiano. There were seven children and Rosa is survived by sisters Antonia and Giuseppina Cancilla and brothers Paolo and Francesco Cancilla. Rosa is predeceased by sister Maria Cancilla and brother Giuseppe Cancilla.
Rosa married her husband Ciro Di Vittorio in 1962 and moved to San Jose, California, where they welcomed their three children, Anna and Roy (and Antonella who is predeceased). Rosa has four grandchildren, Preston, Jeremy, Brandon and Ciro and four great-grandchildren Gianfranco, Gabriella, Stella and Preston James.
Rosa had a successful career as a tailor working for high end fashion companies such as Ralph Lauren Polo and Neiman-Marcus. She was also a very talented seamstress who understood how to make pattern designs and fabrics into fashionable clothing. Rosa could turn a house into a home by using her talent to sew curtains, tablecloths, pillows, etc.
Rosa loved to sing and had a beautiful voice filled with emotion. She also loved to cook and entertain. The only problem after eating a meal that Rosa prepared is that you would not be hungry until four days later! She was proud of the cookies she made and would always have cookies on the table whenever she was entertaining, or even if just a few friends stopped by.
Rosa radiated gracefulness and sophistication. Rosa didn’t do fashion, she was fashion! The joy of dressing is an art and Rosa was a masterpiece!
