Rosemary Tanner died in Good Samaritan Hospital, San Jose, California, after contracting Covid. She struggled with Alzheimer’s for the past 12 years. Rosemary turned 94 while on hospice in the hospital.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Karen and Tom Dailey of Mission Viejo, California; her two sons, Rod Tanner of Sacramento, California, and Gary Tanner of San Jose, California; and her granddaughter, Brynne Dailey of Santa Monica, California.
Rosemary Thompson was born in 1930 in Haxtun, Colorado. After graduating from high school, she moved to Sterling, Colorado. While living in Sterling, she met the love of her life and true soulmate, Kenneth Tanner. They married in 1950 and settled in Sterling where they had their three children. Due to Kenneth’s health problems, they moved to Santa Clara, California in 1966. It was in Santa Clara and San Jose, California that their three children grew up, went to school, and started their careers.
Kenneth died suddenly in December, 1988, and their only grandchild, Brynne, was born three weeks later. Rosemary continued working until she retired at the age of 70. Between the age of 70 and 80, Rosemary enjoyed excellent health in her retirement years. When Rosemary was home, she kept busy with a wonderful group of friends who loved to have fun. She also enjoyed a lot of traveling during that time.
In her early 80’s, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, but continued to live a fairly stable life until she was placed in a loving board and care facility when she was 86. Rosemary remained physically healthy and was able to attend a senior activities center, and enjoyed going out to lunch with family. She always had a smile on her face and loved to laugh during this time.
She is interred with Kenneth and for the first time in 35 years, they are together for their anniversary.
