Rufo Austria De Vera

Rufo is preceded in death by his parents, Jose de Vera and Jacinta Austria de Vera; his siblings, Barbara Austria de Vera, Pacita Austria de Vera and Juan Austria de Vera; his wife, Leonila Cayabyab de Vera; his son, Renato de Vera; and his grandson Jon-Jon. Rufo is survived by his sisters Marina de Vera Solis and Julieta de Vera Morales; sister-in-law Leonila Lomboy de Vera; his children, Linda Lindley (Robert), Wilfredo de Vera (Lani Joy) and Marita Penoringan (Elmer); his grandchildren, Charmaine, Eileen, Robby, Rodelle Ann, Romeria, Jamie, William, Lyndon, Lester and Marielle; and great-grandchildren Jayden, Ian, Nori, Adriana and Nila.

Rufo was a dedicated father and grandfather, working extremely hard to provide for his family and ensure his children could have good lives. In the Philippines, he managed the family business with his wife, Leonila, and continued to work into old age after he immigrated to the United States. He also cared for his grandchildren, picking them up from school and planting vegetable gardens that they watched him meticulously care for. Despite not having a lot, he was exceptionally generous, always giving what he could with no expectation of having the favor returned. He also enjoyed watching basketball, especially the Lakers, and often sported hats with his favorite teams. Rufo emanated a sense of calm and had a contagious smile. His presence will be truly missed.

Visitation and viewing will begin on March 1, 2026 at 3:00 p.m., with Prayer Service starting at 4:00 p.m., followed by eulogies, at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA. Refreshments will be served after the services.

Funeral Service will be held on March 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA.

Committal Service will be held on March 2, 2026 at 12:15 p.m. at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA.
