I have known Steve for many years during our time in the College of Science.  I was crossing the street this afternoon wondering how Steve was - knowing he was not doing so well when I saw him last.  Then I came across this memorial page for him.  My heart sank.  Steve was a great guy.  He never had an unkind word to say about anyone or anything.  I can hear his laugh echoing in the corners of my mind and it makes me smile.  I'm going to miss running into you, Steve.  Until we meet again, Friend.

I am sadden to read that Steve has passed on. I worked with Steve at San Jose State University in the College of Science for a number of years. He was always so nice and always laughingly  assured me I had not broken SJSU's computer system .  He would stop by my office often and we would have a friendly chat.  
Even after I retired and friends would complain about their IT support at their jobs, I would always tell them about the wonderful IT person I had at SJSU.
This sweet wonderful man will be sorely missed.

SJSU Emerita Juama V. Acrivos has very fond memories of Steve Boring. He printed all her research posters submitted to American Physical Society to present at National and International Meetings and then decorated the area by  DH16, 17 for students to learn more about superonductivity. He was a  SJSU treasure. His cheerful attitude and help is remembered by many and will be missed dearly  . 

Steve was my little brother. His passing has left an emptiness in our family's hearts and in our lives. It has been wonderful to read the kind words left by his colleagues and friends.  At home Steve was a kind and generous person.  It's a joy to see that his gentle nature extended well beyond his family life. 

I have known Steve since grade school at Trace Elementary. Steve was extremely kind friend and he will be sorely missed. My prayers and condolences to his family and friends.

I remember Steven Boring fondly from taking a dynamics course together. It was one of the most difficult meteorology courses for me and perhaps for a lot of other students too. We were in the trenches together. This was also where I learned Steven worked at SJSU. I admired how he was working full time and taking graduate level courses. I have come to find comfort seeing his emails about shutting down certain computers. He will be missed.

Steve was the nicest guy. You knew you were in good hands if you asked him for help; if there was a way, he would get it done for you. I worked with him closely for years on matters related to our computer cluster and will always be grateful to him for his contributions.

Steve was my student, my colleague, and my friend. Oftentimes, he would come to my office to talk about his MS thesis research and things about HPC.  He always turned in METR 121 assignments on time. Sometimes he sat on the sofa in my office, just shooting the breeze. I guess most of you may have never seen him angry.  He was a true friend of ours. He will be missed greatly by all of us.

Steve was a very kind person and was always helpful. He will be missed. 

Steve was always a cheerful and friendly presence around the office - it was always a pleasure to see him.  I'm shocked and saddened at his passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.



Steve was a quiet and humble soul. I will always remember his smile.  He was a much respected co-worker across campus. He will be missed greatly. Condolences to all who knew him.
