Troy was born on February 19, 1962, in Oakland, CA to Tommie and Mary Stanbery. He attended Milpitas High School before joining the US Marine Corps at age 17 where he served as a paratrooper. After his honorable discharge, he joined his father-in-law’s firm, Summers & Sons Electric and became a journeyman electrician. Troy proved to be a talented electrician and through his own ambition and hard work, he obtained his contractor’s license and in 1996 started his own electrical contracting firm, TS Electric in Pleasanton, CA. The company grew and in 2000 Troy established an additional office in Arizona to take advantage of the growing construction business near Phoenix. Troy was CEO of TS Electric from its inception, but he never saw himself as a “suit” preferring instead to work on job sites everyday of his professional life.
In 1985, Troy married Deborah Summers and together they created a loving family and supported each other in a successful business collaboration. Troy enjoyed the finer things in life and loved to share his good fortune with those closest to him. If you ask anyone to describe Troy, “hard worker” and “generosity” are always at the top of the list. Troy opened his home to many and among his favorite activities were hosting BBQs, camping and boating. His hobbies included, Harley rides, exercising, watching movies, golf and cheering on his favorite teams, the SF 49ers and the Oakland A’s. Troy was an involved Dad and attended every game, match and recital for his kids who played baseball, football, soccer and studied martial arts and tumbling/dance. When Troy committed to something he went in with his whole heart, whether it be a relationship or a hobby; but he loved it best when he could combine both. He went on many golf trips with family members and the day was as much about being together as it was about the golf. He would show up to the course with his golf bag and a cooler filled with chips, cookies and six packs of drinks which was a hoot to his golfing companions.
Troy is survived by his three children, Jordan, Brandon and Kayla, and ex-wife Deborah Summers as well as his parents, Tommie and Mary Stanbery, his sisters, Marchelle (Steve) Poitra, Christina (Art) Aragon, brothers, Dan (Farra) Stanbery, Steve (Sharon) Stanbery and numerous nieces and nephews who called him Uncle Troy and whom he adored. Troy is preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Cecil and Michiko Summers. Graveside services with military honors will be held on December 16, 2021, at 1:00 PM ats Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose, CA.
