It is with proud gratitud and deep sorrow that we remember John Avecedo who died suddenly from coronary heart failure around 9:15 a.m. while attending a leadership conference for MIT alumni on September 20. He will be remembered as both a great leader and a good follower. Once he quoted a line of antiquity to his poet son: "When you can walk among the kings and still not lose the common touch, then you will be a man, my son". He was 68 years old. His physics (MIT) and Engineering (University of Maryland, College Park) degrees were applied to every aspect of his vast appreciation for scientific research and innovatuve technology. From calculating difficult variables to contemplating the physical properties as well as a arched-rainbow. He was a principled and sacrificial father, son, and grandson as well as a aloyal friend. Funeral services will be held for John Acevedo at the Buxeda Funeral Home in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico during the week of September 21 (tel # 787-751-1111)
