Lydia Hernández Gómez

July 29, 1937 – May 27, 2024

Our beloved mother Lydia Hernandez Gomez of Bayamon, Puerto Rico at the age of 86 entered into God’s Kingdom on May 27, 2024. Lydia was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully.

She was born to Emeterio Hernandez and Manuela Gomez on July 29, 1937 in Bayamon. In 1958, she married Agustin Davila Rivera and together they went on to have four children. Lydia was a wonderful and loving mother who gave her all to her family. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.

Our mother, was one of the most faithful, strongest, kindest, compassionate, one of the kind women to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her as the head of the family. She taught us, her children, not to give up in adversity. She taught us not to wait for others to get things done, to take charge of our lives and get up with our heads held high every time we fall.

She loved our Lord Jesus Christ and had a special devotion praying the Holy rosary. Our family was blessed to have her as the head of the family. She was a parishioner at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, Bayamon and belonged to the Confraternity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Lydia was predeceased by her husband Agustin, her parents and 6 siblings. She is survived by her children: Magali Silva (Hermes) of Victoria, TX; Sheila Davila, Brenda Davila (Carlos Morales) and Raul Davila. Her grandchildren Hermes Yanuel Silva of Knightdale, NC; Nachieli Rendon of Victoria, TX; Dr. Luis A. Morales, Carlos Morales, Veronica Morales, GianCarlos Morales, Karla Morales, Stacey Davila, Raul A. Davila, Eric Davila and eight great grandchildren; her sisters: Luz Hernandez, Irma Hernandez, Edith Hernandez and Rosa Hernandez. Lydia had a very special love for all her nephews and nieces.

Now that Lydia has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Lydia’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.

“We who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus, we shall always be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17)

Visitation will begin on Thursday, May 30 from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm at Buxeda Funeral Home, 3738 Av. Tte. César Luis González in San Juan, PR. Funeral mass to begin at 4:00pm, officiating Fr. Carlos Perez Torro. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 31, at 1:00 PM follow by the burial at 2:30pm at Cementerio Porta Coeli, 50 Avenida Cementerio Nacional in Bayamón, PR.

Nuestra amada madre Lydia Hernández Gómez de Bayamón, Puerto Rico a la edad de 86 años entró en el Reino de Dios el 27 de mayo de 2024. Ella estaba rodeada de su familia y falleció en paz.

Nació el 29 de julio de 1937 en Bayamón y fueron sus padres Emeterio Hernández y Manuela Gómez. En 1958 se casó con Agustín Dávila Rivera y juntos tuvieron cuatro hijos. Ella fue una madre maravillosa y amorosa que lo dio todo por su familia. Nunca podremos llenar el espacio dejado por ella.

Nuestra madre fue una de las mujeres más fieles, fuertes, amables, compasivas que jamás haya caminado por esta tierra. Una guerrera, mujer empoderada que trabajo y cultivó la tierra. A nosotros, sus hijos nos enseñó a no rendirnos en la adversidad. Nos enseñó a no esperar por otros para hacer las cosas, a tomar las riendas de nuestras vidas y levantarnos con la frente en alto cada vez que caemos. Nuestra familia tuvo la bendición de tenerla como cabeza de familia.

Amaba a nuestro Señor Jesucristo y tenía una devoción especial rezando el santo rosario. Ella fue feligresa de la Iglesia Católica Santa Rosa de Lima en Santa Rosa, Bayamón y perteneció a la Cofradía del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.

Lydia fue precedida por su esposo Agustín, sus padres y 6 hermanos. Le sobreviven sus hijos: Magali Silva (Hermes) de Victoria, TX; Sheila Dávila, Brenda Dávila (Carlos Morales) y Raúl Dávila. Sus nietos Hermes Yanuel Silva de Knightdale, Carolina del Norte; Nachieli Rendón de Victoria, Texas; Dr. Luis A. Morales, Carlos Morales, Verónica Morales, GianCarlos Morales, Karla Morales, Stacey Dávila, Raúl A. Dávila, Eric Dávila y ocho bisnietos; sus hermanas: Luz, Irma, Edith y Rosa Hernández. Ella tenía un amor muy especial por todos sus sobrinos y sobrinas.

Ahora que ella ha pasado a los brazos de nuestro Señor, debemos recordarnos a nosotros mismos que, si bien este es el final de la vida física de Lydia en la Tierra, es el comienzo de un viaje eterno y hermoso para ella.

"Nosotros, los que aún vivimos, seremos arrebatados juntamente con ellos en las nubes para recibir al Señor en el aire. Por lo tanto, siempre estaremos con el Señor". (1 Tesalonicenses 4:17.)

El velatorio comenzará el jueves 30 de mayo de 11:00 a.m. a 10:00 p.m. en la Funeraria Buxeda, 3738 Av. Tte. César Luis González en San Juan, PR. La misa fúnebre será a las 4:00 p.m., oficiando el P. Carlos Pérez Torro. El velatorio continuará el viernes 31 de mayo a la 10:00 a.m. Se saldrá de la funeraria para el entierro a las 1:30 p.m. hacia el Cementerio Porta Coeli, 50 Avenida Cementerio Nacional en Bayamón, PR. Bajo la Funeraria Buxeda 787-780-0831
