May the peace and love of God bring you solace in your time of sorrow. We met at the Kreps reunion in Minnesota in 1997. The comments of friends and students are wonderful testimonies to an excellent educator and person who was loved.

Dear Eileen, Dan, Dave, Brien, Monica and all your families - I know I speak for all the Moores when I say that Don was truly a joy to have in our lives. If it's true that life is one long train ride, I'm sure that he and my mother and Russ Alves (and a whole host of their other friends) are keeping the seats warm on the platform as they wait for the rest of us at the celestial station!

DEAR EILEEN, EILEEN AND I WERE SORRY TO HEAR OF DON'S DEATH. HE WAS A FINE EDUCATOR. WE SEND OUR  DEEPEST SYMPATHY.

I'm very sorry to hear this news.  I lost my dad, also a teacher, to Alzheimer's a few years ago, so I have some sense of what Mr. Kreps's family members and close friends have been through.
As a member of Redwood's class of 1970, I remember Mr. Kreps as our principal very well.  In those rebellious times, he was one of the few authority figures for whom I felt genuine respect. 
My condolences go out to all who loved him.

In freshman algebra class in 1966, Mr Fisher told us that Principal Kreps was going to sit in on the class for a few minutes, and being Mr Fisher, he got the class to play a joke on him. For the first part of the class, he got us to practice solving problems *wrong* on the board. Mr. Fisher would correct our wrong answer, but then he would also give another wrong answer as the solution. Well, Mr Kreps came in, sat down, and watched a student or two along with Mr Fisher solve some equations incorrectly. He sooner or later raised his hand and told Mr Fisher that he thought that maybe he was wrong. Of course, the class of 13 year olds could barely keep from laughing all through this exercise, and we all laughed at that point. Mr. Kreps realized that he had been the brunt of (yet another) Mr. Fisher prank and greatly enjoyed it. For me, this humanized a person - a principal - who otherwise would seem rather remote and forbidding to a high school student. 

Mr. Kreps had a wonderful sense of humor - and as an educator who devoted his life to the people of Marin, has left a legacy that few others, including the many celebrities and wealthy people who live here now, will ever match.

After failing Geometry at Redwood (Class of 1976), I had to retake the class if I wanted to graduate.  I dreaded it; however, when Mr. Kreps greeted his geometry students that first day of the new semester, his warm smile immediately chased away my fear of failing again. And, I didn't.  He had a marvelous way of teaching, and I managed to easily achieve an "A" in his class.  He was the first person in my life who taught me to never give up, even when faced with the possibility of defeat.  Donald Kreps was well-known throughout Marin and loved by too many to count.

I was hired as a teacher of Business Education by Don to teach at Redwood  starting the second year of its opening. He was a kind and helpful inspiration to both teachers and students. I will fondly remember and pray for Donald Kreps, an outstanding educator and my boss for over 25 years.

Dear Mrs. Kreps, Monica, and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.  I was fortunate to be a student at Redwood while Mr. Kreps was principal, and was also your Greenbrae neighbor.  I will always remember Mr. Kreps with great fondness.

 Mr. Kreps earned the respect of a group of America's most perceptive, exacting and challenging citizens --- the high school teenager.  While his accomplishments are many none surpass in value the respect we had for him.  That was his greatest success.
