

Gertrude Wendt Died at home on December 2, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father Francisco Gonzales, mother Anna Gonzales, brothers Henry Gonzales and Frank Gonzales, husband Robert Wendt, son Bruce Wendt and husband Otto Sempell. She is survived by sons Robert Wendt and David Wendt and by grandchildren John, Paulo, Gabriel, Jacob and Lilly Wendt. Trudy was born Gertrude Gonzales on November 29, 1923 in Hayward CA. She and her husband Robert moved to San Rafael in 1949. She lived in Marin for 62 years. She loved gardening, traveling and life itself. She was a volunteer at Nazareth House and at the Marin Civic Auditorium where just recently she was honored as the longest serving volunteer usher, a record 31 years. She was an avid grower of roses and orchids. She worked for the County of Marin, owned her own auto parts business, sold real estate and earned her private pilots license. A rosary service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7:00 PM at Keaton's Mortuary, on E Street, San Rafael. A mass will be held Friday Dec. 9 at 11:00 AM at St. Isabella's Church, 1 Trinity Way in San Rafael. Interment will be at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
