John Michael Wandzilak passed away September 5, 2011 in his home in Mill Valley at the age of 39. In 1971 John was born in Connecticut and that same year the family moved to Novato. Growing up, John loved playing baseball and football in the Novato Youth Leagues. After the family moved to Southern California, he graduated from Westlake High School and earned himself a football scholarship to UCLA. After his college experience, John moved back to Marin where he met his wife of 11 years, Kristina Truitt. They met at the tender age of 22, and went on to marry and have two delightful children, Sebastian and Savannah. In this time, John also spent 5 years serving our country in the US Coast Guard, and most recently fulfilling his dreams of becoming a history teacher, studying at Dominican University. John will be remembered as an extraordinary and dedicated father with a huge heart, who always showed up for every sporting event. John woke up early each morning to cook a much loved breakfast of pancakes and bacon for his children. John was an inspired and enthusiastic coach for Sebastian's little league team, and ignited Savannah's passion for the water when he taught her how to surf. He is survived by his loving wife Kristina, his beloved children Sebastian and Savannah, his father James, brother Jim, sister Jill, their loving spouses and children, and all of the Truitt family. A rosary will be held on Thursday, September 8th at 7:30 PM as well as a Celebration of Life Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM on Friday the 9th. Both services are to be held at St. Anselm Church, 97 Shady Lane, San Anselmo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wandzilak Education Fund at any Wells Fargo branch.
