Marin has lost another of its pillars of society. An honest businessman, a true friend, a wonderful husband and father and a bottomless source of info for anything that had an engine and could be kicked up a notch with a turbo or blower.
Cherished son of the late Camillo and Albina Pitto. Ken was preceded in death by Carole, his loving wife of 49 years, and dear sister Veryl. His is survived by his handsome son Jeff, beautiful daughter Rachelle and tortured son-in-law Mark; proud grandfather of Grant and Rachelle; brother-in-law to Frank and Rose Marie and bunches of nieces, nephews and cousins.
“Kenny” to his friends, grew up in North Beach. His love of cars and speed ran deep and would later lead to co-owing a Midget Race Team. In 1951, he graduated from Sacred Heart High School. In 1955 he enlisted in the Army where he became an Ordnance Specialist and served until 1959. He went to work at Bugna’s Lincoln Mercury in San Rafael in the 60’s. It became Marin Bay Lincoln Mercury, his first dealership. In the beginning of the 80’s, he entered what would become Ted Stevens Auto Network at Marin Honda and in 1986 Marin Acura. He was highly respected in a fiercely competitive business. He was not only loved by his employees but by his competitors as well. In the late 90’s he contently retired from a business he loved.
While cars may have been his passion, his one true love was his family. Nothing made him happier than spending time at Clear Lake with friends and family. One thing you could always count on was steak and ravioli on a Saturday night. There was always enough food and room at Ken’s table. He will be missed by so many but he was met with loving arms.
A mass will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Isabella Church, 1 Trinity Way, San Rafael, CA 94903.
