

Wilhelmine Carr Gillis - beloved mother, wife, and grandparent - passed away at the age of 97 and was buried at the National Cemetery at the Presidio in San Francisco next to her husband. She had lived in Greenbrae California for the later years of her life with her husband, Col. Thomas Duncan Gillis. "Billie", as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, is suvived by her brother, Lowell Carr of Southport NC, her only remaining child, George Gillis of Atlanta, and two grandsons, Jordan Gillis of Atlanta and Chris Logan of Charleston SC.
Predeceasing "Billie" were her two daughters - Leah Claire Campbell and Laurie Jean Gillis - and her beloved husband who died in 2007 at the age of 94. "Billie" was born in Romeo, Michigan to parents Lowell J Carr, professor of Sociology at the University of Michigan, and Leah Mable Brown. She spent most of her life traveling with her husband at various Army posts throughout the United States and Europe. Everywhere she went, she unshelfishly offered her time and enegry to start up local programs for the betterment of others and was the president of many organizations, such as the Presidio Ladies Golf Club in San Francisco, but mostly she was the best wife and mother and is missed dearly.
