Constantina Liveri Manatis of East Sandwich died peacefully at the McCarthy Care Center after a long life with her family. She was born in Zakinthos, Greece, the daughter of Athena and Dionysios Liveri.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna Manatis and her husband David Anderson, her son, Nikos Papadatos and his wife Georgia Papadatos, her grandchildren, Christopher Ed Manatis-Lornell, Athena Jane Manatis-Lornell, and their father Eric Lornell, Konstantina Papadatos, Kostas Papadatos, Adam Lamb, Jamal Lamb and his wife Kim Lamb and great grandchildren Kaydan Lamb and Bianca Lamb. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Edith Liveri, and her nephews Denis and George Liveri and their families, as well as, her sister-in-law, Helen Russo, and her nephews Anthony and Dean Russo and their families. Her family, friends and patients will miss her.
She is predeceased by her husband George Manatis, her first husband Kostantinos Papadatos, and her beloved brother Haralambos Liveri.
Constantina was a pediatrician trained at the University of Athens and New York University. She practiced and worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and had offices in University Heights and University Avenue in the Bronx and then in Scarsdale, New York. She was known for her love of the “babies and children.”
Her hobbies were gardening, interior decorating and real estate. She kept a beautiful rose garden in Scarsdale and enjoyed touting her President Lincoln rose bush. She loved looking at open houses and checked real estate pages at all places she visited, particularly noticing the architecture and the materials used in building construction.
In her later days at the Adult Day Health Center in Sandwich and Cape Heritage Nursing Home, she enjoyed singing, dancing and making friends with all.
Services will be held at the Saint George Orthodox Church in Centerville on Thursday, July 19, 2012, visitation at 2:00pm with mass at 3:00pm. Burial will be on July 21, 2012 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, New York at 12:00pm.
