Cynthia Sprague Krieg

Cynthia Sprague Krieg, 59 yrs old died peacefully on October 3, 2017, on a beautiful fall day. Cindy was born on May 10, 1958 in Cambridge, MA. Later, her family moved to Connecticut. However, both her parents had a great love for Cape Cod. They realized their dream and moved to Town Neck in Sandwich in Oct 1965. Cindy attended Sandwich Elementary School and Henry T. Wing School, and was in the first graduating class of the new Sandwich High School. During these years, Cindy developed the kind of small town friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Once old enough, she went to work at Marshland Restaurant and then the Daniel Webster Inn. During the summers, she spent much of her time at the beach as she loved the ocean. Following high school, Cindy moved to Florida. She received a degree in Interior Design from and began working in the furniture industry where she met, and eventually married the love of her life, Steven Krieg. They later brought a beautiful daughter Valeria into their family.

Cindy had an incredibly adventurous spirit. She has hiked the White Mountains of New Hampshire to the West mountains of Maui to the rugged mountains of the Amalfi Coast in Italy. She has taken helicopter rides over the Grand Canyon and over Hawaiian volcanoes. She loved to travel both within and outside the US. She explored Hawaii, Colorado, the Southwest US, Niagara Falls, all of New England and Prince Edward Island in Canada. She has also travelled to the Carribean Islands, Scandinavia, Italy, Greece and the Mediterranean. She truly wanted to live her life to the fullest. But Cindy loved Cape Cod the most and her special love of the Cape now lives on in her daughter Valeria.

Cindy's Christian faith was central to her life. She gained strength from this faith when she faced her life challenges. She also gave that faithful strength to others in their times of need. Along with her faith, family was also central to Cindy. Unselfishly, she often put the needs of her family before her own. She has been a remarkable mother and a wonderful wife. She has been the best sister, friend, aunt, cousin one could have ever asked for. Our family will not be the same without her.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband Steven Krieg and beautiful daughter Valeria Krieg, her sisters Denise Cornwell, Irene Davis and Susan Eloranta, and her brother Stephen Michaud. She has a wonderful family of in-laws including mom-in-law, Mary Krieg and the Ikola and Marre families. Cindy is blessed with cousins and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She is pre-deceased by her mom, Doris Traniello and her dad, Richard Sprague and brothers Kenny Michaud and Claude Michaud. Cindy was also loved by her many friends in both Sandwich and in Florida.

Funeral services will be held at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich on Saturday, Oct 7, 2017. Visitation will be from 11-12, funeral from 12-1 followed by burial at Sandwich Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Metavivor at www.metavivor.org.
