Centerville - Donald passed away, at the age of 71, in his sleep on September 10th.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Violeta Donahue, his children & their spouses Violeta & John Wells, April Donahue & Jeff Dawson, Donald Donahue III & Tracy Donahue, Richard & Danielle Donahue. His grandchildren John Wells IV, Donald Donahue IV, Caitlynne Dawson, Elora Donahue, Kylie Dawson, Landen Donahue & Lillian Donahue. His brother John Donahue, sister Patricia Macuga and his half-brother Charles Donahue. As well as his stepmother Carol Donahue.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Donald Donahue Sr. & Marjory Donahue.
Always the Good Samaritan, while growing up in Forty-Fort PA he joined the Army. While his main position was training helicopter pilots, he also was a marksman M1 and a sharpshooter. Before moving to the Cape with his wife and family, he lived in Stamford, CT for many years where he was an EMT on the Springdale Fire & Rescue Squad. After moving to the Cape he became a beloved Boy Scout troop leader (Troop 47). He served his church dutifully and joyously, was a Grand Knight in the local Knights of Columbus - Sandwich chapter, volunteer for the local church run food pantry. He donated his time to and held many positions with Cape Cod BMX and was a CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Team) member where he was recognized as ‘Volunteer of the Year’ in 2012. He was the neighborhood father in Forestdale, always welcoming to all and willing to lend a helping hand. He also owned and operated 49’ser CornDawgs, traveling throughout New England from fair to fair for 10 years. He was an avid animal lover, volunteering for Thorton Burgess Society. He loved to travel and visit family around the country.
A wake to be held Wednesday, September 16 from 4pm-8pm at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral home - 154 Route 6A Sandwich, MA 02563
Church services Thursday, September 17 at 11am, Corpus Christi Parish - 324 Quaker Meeting House Rd, East Sandwich, MA 02537. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery - Connery Ave, Bourne, MA 02532
