

Dorothy Marie (Savage) McFarland, of Sandwich, formerly of Everett, MA passed away peacefully on December 14, 2013 surrounded by her devoted and loving family. Dot was the daughter of A. Joseph and J.Margaret Savage, the beloved wife of Hugh F. McFarland who passed away in 2002, the sister of the late A. Joseph Savage, the late F. William Savage, J. Margaret Crowley of Naples FLA and her Aunt Marie Reynolds Crowley of Centerville and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins. She leaves her children, Theresa McFarland and her husband Prasad Apte, her son Michael McFarland and his wife Linda, Paula Johnson and her husband Jeffrey, Dorothy Grady and her husband Michael, her cherished grandchildren, Julia, Dinesh, Brian, Lauren, Zachary and Nathaniel.
Dot loved her family more than anything and made each one of her children and grandchildren feel like the favorite one. She kept up with the latest technology so she could e-mail and skype with her grandchildren as they grew up and travelled to college and began their adult lives.
Dot had a life long love affair with the city of Boston. She was a career woman and worked as the executive secretary to the president of Joslin’s (later Jordan Marsh) and as a benefit consultant for New England Telephone on Congress St in Boston. She would never miss the opportunity to visit Boston and enjoy all it had to offer. She loved the White Mountains of New Hampshire and had many happy memories spending time with her family at her parents’ White Mountain Inn at the foot of Black Mountain in Jackson NH. She loved living in Sandwich, moving here in 1993, and would go for morning walks through the village right up until her mid-eighties.
She will be missed forever by her family and all who her knew her as the kind and loving woman that she was. Visiting hours will be held Saturday December 21, 2013 from 10 to 11 am at Corpus Christi Church, 324 Quaker Meeting House Rd., E. Sandwich. Her funeral mass will be at 11 am with burial to follow at St. Peters Cemetery..
