Geraldine “Gerri” Matty, 78, of East Sandwich, Massachusetts, passed away on April 22, 2026 surrounded by family. Born on December 4, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Catherine Carrel. Geraldine is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Matty; her daughter, Kara Matty; her son-in-law, Michael Kistler; and her cherished granddaughters, Addison and Lenora.
In 1978, Gerri moved to East Sandwich with her beloved husband, Ken, beginning a life centered on family, friendship, and community. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and, will be tremendously missed. She spent 18 years as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines before retiring, where she developed a love for travel, savory foods and adventure that she carried throughout her life. Gerri will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, sense of humor, and the welcoming home she created for all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A Sandwich, MA. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope 1581 Main Street Barnstable, MA. Burial to follow at a later date.
