John G. Morahan

John Gerard Morahan 60, of Forestdale, Massachusetts passed away at Cape Cod Hospital on June 6, 2024. John was born to Joseph and Annie (O’Connell) Morahan in Boston, Massachusetts. Educated at Holy Name Parish School and Catholic Memorial High School, West Roxbury, MA, John received a B.A. from Framingham State University.

He married his wife Maura (Leary) Morahan in 1997 and relocated from Boston to Sandwich, Massachusetts in 1999. John was a probation officer with the Trial Court of Massachusetts from 1997 until his death. He had worked for the last 25 years at Orleans District Court, where he worked tirelessly to help those less fortunate than himself to improve their lives. He proudly volunteered for FORWARD, an organization on Cape Cod, building homes for people with autism and related disorders. John was always a champion of the underdog and will be remembered as a kind, generous, thoughtful man.

He was the beloved husband of Maura, cherished father of William, Patrick and Tim and loyal son of Joseph and Annie (Nancy) Morahan. He was the dear brother of Ann Marie and her husband John Fitzpatrick of Londonderry, NH, Joseph and his wife Kim of Concord, MA, Thomas and his wife Andrea of Medfield, MA and Brian and his wife Janine of Braintree, MA. He was the much loved brother-in law to Mary Beth Deehan of Sandwich, Patti Leary of Sandwich and Kevin Leary and his wife Lorna of East Sandwich. John was the adored uncle to 18 nieces and nephews, four grandniece's and nephews and the proud cousin and nephew to many here in Massachusetts as well as Ireland and the UK.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in John’s name to help those with autism have suitable housing at FORWARD (go-forward.org).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, East Sandwich, MA at 1:00 pm on Tuesday June 18, 2024, with burial to follow at Sandwich Town Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday June 17, 2024 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 MA 6A, Sandwich, Massachusetts.
