

Mr. Joseph E. “Joe” Turner, 85, of Sagamore, formerly of Plymouth, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at JML Care Center, Falmouth. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie (Manley) Turner with whom he shared 30 years together.
Born and raised in Boston, Joe was the son of the late Frank and Katherine (McGuiness) Turner. Mr. Turner honorably served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.
Joe was mostly known for his roller skating abilities. In his younger years, he participated in State and National competitions. Joe was also a roller skating instructor for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion Clark-Haddad Post 188 in Sandwich.
Joe enjoyed fishing, playing cards, socializing and simply sitting outside near the canal. He was always a good and trusted friend who was always a good listener, never commenting unless asked.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his children, Joseph “Joe” Turner, Jr. of Boston, Donald Turner and wife Carol of SD, Linda Borden and husband Joe of Plymouth, Carolyn DeSalzo and husband Steve of FL, Frank Turner of LA; step-children, Jason Vikjord of Uxbridge and Jennifer Thayer and husband Jeffrey of Dudley. 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. Former wife, Jean Turner. He was predeceased by his son, William Turner.
Visiting Hours for Joe will be held on Friday from 11-1PM in the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich. Burial to follow with Military Honors in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Legion Clark-Haddad Post 188, 20 Main Street, Sandwich.
