

Marjorie’s love in life was her family. She and her beloved husband of 52 years, William M. Martin, together raised seven children: Marilyn Costello of East Sandwich, MA, William M. Martin of Beaumont, Texas, Dianne Bray of Canandaigua, NY, John A. Martin and Emmet F. Martin of Greer, SC, Douglas C. Martin of North Easton, MA, and Michelle Beadle of Middletown, MD along with their 23 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.
She was the daughter of Emmet and Anastasia (Kelley) Smith and grew up in Watertown, MA where she graduated from St. Patrick’s High School. Marjorie went on to attend Boston College night school while working full time during the day at Raytheon. After marrying, she and her husband raised their family in Needham, Framingham, and Sandwich, MA.
Marjorie loved travelling, reading, music, and spending time with her family. She was an active participant in her church and a tireless prolife advocate. When her children were grown, Marjorie worked for several years as the receptionist for Sandwich Cooperative Bank, and after retirement, moved to Taylors, SC.
Additionally, Marjorie is survived by siblings, Francis Smith of Belmont, MA, Thomas Smith of Southboro, MA, Kathleen Gilligan of Hopkinton, MA, Dorothy Steeves of Franklin, MA, and Margaret Pomeroy of Hopkinton, MA as well as many dozens of nieces and nephews.
Predeceased are brothers, James, Kenneth, and Robert and sisters, Marie and Virginia. Visitation will be held at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Rte. 6A, Sandwich, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 18.
A funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 19, at the Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meeting House Rd. in E. Sandwich. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
