

She was born in Boston, the daughter of Mary T. (Caldon) Gleason and Clarence A. Gleason. She lived in Milton, MA, summering in Sandwich, MA since childhood. She attended Burdett College. For over 30 years she was employed as a lighting specialist for the Graybar Electric Company, Boston, an international wholesale electrical distributor. Upon retirement, she moved to Sagamore, MA.
She was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River, and was a Eucharistic Minister for her parish of Corpus Christi, Sandwich, and St. Theresa's, Sagamore. Upon the invitation of the Fall River Vocation Office, she contributed to the fund for educating three seminarians in the Diocese and follower their programs toward priesthood enthusiastically.
She has been a member of the Rushlight Club for over 40 years, as well as a member of Aptuxet Garden Club of Bourne and the Sandwich Historical Society. She was secretary for the Pairpoint Cup Plate Collectors of America and was docent at Heritage Plantation. She was a glass collector, a collector of early lighting devices, and she had a large collection of whale oil lamps.
Mary loved to play golf and played at Plymouth Country Club and White Cliffs.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Gleason, OSU, of Ursuline Convent, Dedham, by her nieces, Patricia Cimeno of Florida, the children of Candace and Rusty White of Maine, and Priscilla Johnson of Dedham and their children, and also by her godson, James Dunn and his family of Needham.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Rd, East Sandwich, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 12 pm at the church. The Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers , donations may be made to the Mary C. Gleason Scholarship Fund, Ursuline Academy, Dedham, MA or to Corpus Christi Parish, Sandwich, MA.
