

He was born August 12, 1957 in New Bedford, the son of the late Maurice A. and Jeannette (Paquette) Lockwood.
Phillip grew up in New Bedford and attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School. The family moved to Dartmouth in 1974 where he attended High School.
Preceding him in death were his father, his wife Patricia, and siblings Maurice Monty and Linette Monty.
Phillip enjoyed playing golf, watching NASCAR, blues music and playing the harmonica. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was especially proud of being a local Stewart in the Union Local #385. He also enjoyed boating and fishing, but most of all spending time with his family.
Surviving family members are his mother Jeannette of Marion, his son Phillip Jean Monty Jr. and his children Kasey, Kayla and Carly-Rae Monty, all of Swansea. His step-son David Wedge and his fiancée Kate, and his children Joshua and Nora Wedge of Forestdale. Surviving siblings are William Monty and his wife Rosanne of W. Wareham, Michelle Margeson and husband Steven of N. Dartmouth, Michael Monty and his wife Antoinette of N. Dartmouth, Leon Monty and wife Gloria of S. Dartmouth, Jacqueline Sylvia and husband Gerald of Sandwich, Christopher Monty and wife Joan of Wareham and RuthEllen and her husband Russell Jacob of Arlington, MA. Phillips is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Rte. 6A, Sandwich.
A funeral mass will be Monday, April 27, at 11:00 AM at the Corpus Christi Parish, Sandwich. Burial will follow in the Sandwich Town Cemetery.
