

Ruth Ann (Kiley) O’Brien of Sandwich and Venice, FL (formerly of Scituate) went home to heaven on July 24, 2021 at age 93. Born to the late Joseph and Ruth (McCoy) Kiley on March 7, 1928 in Dorchester. Ruth Ann was a 1945 graduate of The High School of Practical Arts. In 1956 she married the love of her life, Charles O’Brien and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage.
In 1963, Ruth and Charlie moved to Scituate where they raised their family. Upon her retirement from the William A. Hinton State Laboratory Institute in 1985, they moved to Cape Cod and became snow birds in 2010 spending winters in Venice, FL.
Ruth Ann loved to travel and visited many places over the years with Charlie, including Portugal, Spain, Canada, Bermuda, St. Maarten, Italy and Ireland in addition to her unforgettable pilgrimage to Medjugorje with her daughter Cheryl. Most of all, Ruth Ann was deeply devoted to her family and Catholic faith. She was faithful to the sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist, and credits all her blessings to God.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Charlie, and their four children, Cheryl O’Neill (Michael), Kevin, Christine Beatey (John) all of Sandwich and Steven (fiancée Wendy Christensen) of Scituate as well as 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Carolyn Kiley and Mary Ann Cotting, along with many nephews, nieces, family, and friends. Ruth Ann is thrilled to be once more united with her parents and her siblings, Mary Monahan, Joseph, Robert, and Paul Kiley in heaven.
A viewing and funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich. Burial will be private. Please pray for the repose of her soul, and for those who will miss her dearly. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537.
