SAGAMORE - Shirley Elizabeth Knight Craig, 85 passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 30, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Donald "Dick" Craig, who passed away June 22, 2017.
She is survived by her sons, Brian, Glenn (Julie), daughter Laurie, grandson, Bill, cousins, Linda Gibson, David Archibald, Loretta Barrete, Sharon Neddey Archibald, Linda and John Jenkins.
Born in New Bedford, MA and raised in Sagamore, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Laura Archibald Knight.
As Dick was an Airman in the USAF, Shirley raised three children in various (mostly) cold climates until they settled in Homestead, FL, where they lived from 1975 - 2001, when they moved back to her childhood home in Sagamore.
Shirley was a self-taught artist and crafter who was active in the Yarmouth Art Guild and the Monday Painters group at the Sandwich Council on Aging for many years. She also very much enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, feeding the birds, and lunch with The Girls.
The family would like to express their great appreciation for the support from the VNA Hospice, especially nurses Colleen and Linda, and home health aides Elizabeth and Elizabeth.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A Sandwich, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Bourne Fire Rescue and Emergency Services Attn: Rescue Fund 51 Meethinghouse Lane Sagamore Beach, MA 02562
