

Born on October 22, 1950, in Waltham, MA, Steve grew up in Hingham, where his love of athletics flourished. He played both soccer and hockey and graduated from Hingham High School in 1969. He went on to attend Middlebury College in Vermont, where he majored in biology and played four years on the varsity hockey team, graduating in 1973.
Following college, Steve began a 35-year career as a dedicated science teacher at the middle and high school levels in Norwell, MA. During this time, he earned his Master’s in Education from Bridgewater State and remained committed to inspiring generations of students.
Steve led a life filled with energy and enthusiasm. He played hockey well into his 60s, was the owner of Anderson Firewood, and found joy on the water fishing and boating. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, always present on the sidelines cheering on his children and grandchildren in their many sports and activities.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Cindy; his children: Melissa and her husband Brian Russell of Sandwich, Michael and his wife Katy Anderson of Nottingham, NH, and Christopher and his wife Amber Anderson of Sandwich; and his grandchildren: Liam and Alexander Russell of Sandwich, and Morgyn Anderson of Nottingham, NH.
Steve will be remembered for his kind warm spirit, tireless work ethic, and deep love for his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral home, 154 route 6A, Sandwich, MA.
