Stephen Charles MacPherson

Stephen Charles MacPherson, 79, of Sandwich, MA passed away peacefully on December 22, 2022. Stephen was born in Boston, MA, April 5, 1943, and grew up in Milton, MA. He worked for Boston Edison underground when he met and then married Marian, 48 years ago. They relocated to Sandwich, MA in 1985 where they raised their children, and have continued to spend many, many years living near the ocean and developed wonderful friendships.

Stephen loved the beach, he loved adventures but most important to him was his family. He showed his love by small gestures his children will always hold dear, by leaving daily notes on the kids' lunch bags, sneaking baseball card packs or cold York Peppermint Patties any time he came home. When his grandchildren would visit, his huge excited smile and warm hugs would become the normal routine with each visit. Even after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis, he took great joy and responsibility to help care for our Great Grandma daily. As Alzheimer’s progressed, robbing him of skills and memories, he continued to stay busy and help with yard work, house work and anything he could do to help. He always wanted to help, it was how he showed his love the best.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Marian O’Loughlin MacPherson, his son Stephen MacPherson, Jr., his wife Billie Jo MacPherson of Canton, MA and daughter, Monica MacPherson Ricci and her husband Matthew Ricci of Bolton, MA. His adored grandchildren Madelyn, Chase, Luke, Charlie and Carter will miss Grampy and his infectious laugh and smile. He is also survived by his sister Ann MacPherson of Milton, MA and cherished relatives and friends.

Stephen will be remembered on Thursday, December 29 at Our Lady of Victory Parish in Centerville, MA where a wake 10:00- 11:00 will precede a funeral mass at 11:00. Burial will follow at the Sandwich Town Cemetery on Route 130.
