

He leaves behind the love of his life, Edward Prete of Sagamore; his parents Ella Mae and William McKinley Jackson of Romeoville, IL; his siblings, Dorothy Annette of San Diego, CA, Gloria Williams and Kevin Jackson of Naperville, IL, Dianne and Raymond Brown of Toledo, OH, Terri Jackson of Aurora CO, Karen Underwood of Aurora, CO; his brother and sister in laws Sandra Ryan, Charlie and Pon Prete all of Sagamore; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, an abundance of friends, and his dog, Odie.
McKinley was raised in Gary, In, where he graduated from West Side High School. He attended Bible College in Evansville IN. He served many years for the church youth ministry in Riverside, CA before moving to Cape Cod. He worked alongside his family at The Bridge Restaurant in Sagamore and was employed at Community Service Industry. McKinley will be greatly missed and remembered for his amazing involvement in the community and his commendable ability to break down the boundaries of all kinds of stereotypes. In addition to being a co-founder of the Plymouth Men's group, Mckinley was a cherished volunteer with many local programs-- Community Service Industry, the Aids Support Group and Food Pantry of Cape Cod and the Overnights of Hospitality Program of Plymouth. McKinley recently organized “Parting of Ways”, the first ceremony to honor and recognize the Four African American Revolutionary War Soldiers whose grave sites are in Plymouth. He attended the First Parish of Plymouth Unitarian Universalist, the Bethel Church of Plymouth, and the Unity Church in Hyannis. McKinley was interested in art and music and sang with the Gay Men's Chorus of Cape Cod. He was an avid exerciser enjoying kayaking, strength training and walking. He loved spending time with his many friends and family. McKinley was a seasoned traveler and was surely the "toast of three continents"!

McKinley supported the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church at 6 Sever St, Plymouth, MA, Unity Church at 147 Walton Ave Hyannis, MA and either the First Parish of Plymouth or the Parish Overnights Hospitality Program, both at 19 Town Sq. Plymouth MA.Above all, McKinley would be greatly honored by any Random Act of Kindness initiated in his memory.
Visiting Hours will be held Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 4-8pm in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich. Funeral services will be held at Friday, July 18, 2014 at 10am in First Parish of Plymouth, 19 Town Sq., Plymouth.
