William was born in Port Chest, NY to Constance O’Connor and his late father Francis O’Connor. William was a cheerful and warm man. He had a quick mind with an exceptional talent for numbers. He enjoyed doing Mensa puzzles, crosswords, and watching sports. His favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He loved to host barbeques for his friends and family. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, wit, and an encyclopedic knowledge of sports history.
The youngest of four children, William grew up in Mamaroneck, NY with his brothers Robert and Thomas, and his sister Susan. He married Henriette Bufi in 1986 and had three children, Thomas “Teddy”, Brian, and Kevin.
William moved to Cape Cod, MA in 1994 where he worked in the harbor at Whychmere Beach Club. He loved working outside, often taking time out of his day just to appreciate the fresh air, sunshine, and the beauty of the Nantucket Sound. The time most precious to him was spent with his children. With them, he loved to play mini-golf, rent action movies on VHS, and share his love of classic rock and the great guitarists of all time. From seven to eight in the evening you could always find him watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, “Don’t call between 7 and 8, I’m busy.”
William is survived by his mother, his three sons, his three siblings, and his honorary brothers William Ames and David Lowrey.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday February 18, 2023 at 2:30pm, Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA.
