Alice Elaine Kaufmann (née Hamilton), affectionately known as Nana, passed away on July 28, 2024, in Marietta, Georgia, at the age of 80. Born on July 18, 1944, in Tarrytown, Georgia, Alice led a remarkable life filled with compassion, dedication, love for her family, friends and community.
Alice graduated from Wheeler County High School before pursuing a nursing degree from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in 1965. Her career began at Decatur Pediatric Group and then The Kaufmann Clinic in 1968, where she spent most of her nursing days. She played pivotal roles as the Director and Nurse for The Medical Association of Georgia's Medical Aid Station at the State Capitol for many years and was instrumental during the 1996 Olympics as the Director and Nurse for the Olympic Medical Center. Beyond her professional achievements, Alice was a world-class mother and "Nana" to her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored immensely. She was a dedicated mother, sister, wife, and friend.
Alice's life was enriched by her passions, which included traveling, food and live music. She had a special adoration for artists like Willie Nelson, Leonard Cohen, and Prince. Her love for music and life was shared with her family, friends and the people she met along the way. Alice was endlessly charming, made friends everywhere she went, and was known for her warm smile and kind heart. She loved baking and crafting with her grandchildren. She was a master on the computer, sometimes known as 'Mission Control'. She always made the most out of the little things in life. Excited like a little kid, she was up for anything. Alice loved sunsets in Tarrytown. She never wanted to say goodbye to the ones she loved.
She is survived by her daughter, Holly (David) Larkworthy, and her grandchildren, Riley, Liam, and Quinn. Her Stepchildren, Dr. Robert Kaufmann and Nancy Silver. Alice also leaves behind her siblings, Sandra Howard, Lorenda (Billy) Morris, Larry, Shannon, and Danny Hamilton and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, David Neal O'Riley, husband Dr. James Aron Kaufmann, and parents Edwin and Louise Hamilton.

A graveside service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 10, 2024. A reception will immediately follow the graveside service at H.M. Patterson & Son- Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Farm Aid in honor of Alice's love for Willie Nelson and her commitment to supporting farmers, available at farmaid.org/donate.
Alice's legacy will live on through her family, her community, and all those she touched with her generous spirit and loving heart.
