

Ann J. Gillen, of Marietta, died December 26, 2016. Mrs. Gillen was born in Akron, OH on February 29, 1932. She was the second youngest of 8 children to Charles and Anna Jahant. Ann graduated from Our Lady of The Elms High School and Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY. After graduation she taught music and grade school. She then had a blind date to play golf with her future husband, Jim Gillen which has lasted in a more than 60 year marriage. Ann loved the outdoors and enjoyed, walking, snow skiing, golf and tennis. She was very active in her garden club as well as the Junior League in Akron, Pittsburgh, New York and Atlanta. In addition to her husband, Jim she is survived by her daughter, Kathy Boardman and her husband, Richard; daughter, Lisa Gillen; son, Jim Gillen, Jr. and his fiancé, Pam Randles; son, David Gillen; grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher and Daniel Boardman; brother, Tom Jahant; and sister, Helen Sarvis. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Alzheimer’s Association. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 6 to 8 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. A Memorial Mass will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11 o’clock at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 7171 Glenridge Dr., Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
