Barbara S. Small

Barbara Sheffield Small born August 21, 1930, died December 22, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. “Bobbie” as she was known to all, was a loving, caring, devoted southern lady. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, tennis (which she was pretty good at), as well as important mission work for homeless people. A life -long member of Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, Bobbie was devoted to volunteer missionary work at Techwood. She earned the Missionary Award from Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist for her commitment to helping with the needs of the homeless. She was married to the late George H. Small, Jr. for 51 years. They had four boys, Hank, David, Martin, and Chris. Each of the boys earned scholarships and played college baseball, some professionally. Bobbie has a permanent seat at most ball fields. She is survived by her sons, David and Robin Small, Martin and Page Small, and Chris and Belinda Small. She is the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church on December 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Charles Qualls officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
